Return to Now is my first foray into the field of fantasy fiction.

In the past, I've been a screenwriter, award-winning independent filmmaker, documentarian, theater impressario, and children's theater actor.

I'm currently an artist and graphic designer. You can check out my work here: FINE ART by Brian Shepp

I intend to become many other things in the future.

"What is literature but the expression of moods
by the vehicle of symbol and incident?

And are there not moods which need heaven, hell, purgatory,
and faeryland
for their expression, no less than this dilapidated earth?

Nay, are there not moods which shall find no expression
unless there be men who dare to mix heaven, hell, purgatory,
and faeryland together...

Let us go forth, the tellers of tales, and seize
whatever prey the heart long for, and have no fear.

Everything exists, everything is true,
and the earth is only a little dust under our feet.
"

- W. B. Yeats

“The artist's function is the mytholigization of the environment and the world.”   - Joseph Campbell

“Fairytales serve a meaningful social function,

not just for compensation but for revelation:

the worlds projected by the best of our fairytales reveals

the gap between truth and falsehood in our immediate society.”

- Jack Zipes

Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road,

Healthy, free, the world before me,

The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose.

Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune,

Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing,

Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms,

strong and content I travel the open road.

I inhale great draughts of space,

The east and the west are mine, and the north and the south are mine.

- Walt Whitman

"Myth has the power to touch and

exhilerate the deepest

creative energies of the psyche,

and to generate symbolic images

that confer shape and significance

upon what often seems the

chaotic anarchy of contemporary life and history."

- Evans Lansing Smith

“There's no money in poetry, but then there's no poetry in money, either.”  - Robert Graves
